Hello! This is my story.
Hi, I’m Ruqayyah, a Certified Holistic Stress Management Coach. Every experience and training I completed has enhanced the coach I am today. As a child I grew up in a traditional household and loved being different. I had a small diverse group of friends. I built my life the way I wanted. I didn’t understand the word “no.” Every time I heard “no” I worked harder and accomplished what I strived for in spite of being told I couldn’t do it.
At seventeen I started my serial entrepreneur journey. I did temp work for several companies to see what worked/didn’t work in different environments. Later, I owned a baby planning company, a therapeutic massage therapy clinic, a private neuromuscular therapy practice, and now, Ruqayyah & Co., a health & wellness company that offers stress management. I’ve also coached massage therapists on how to successfully build a private practice.
I handcrafted my training to fit the needs of my clients. I sought out (and completed) a multitude of coaching certifications including: Master Life Coach, Holistic Stress Management, Women’s Empowerment, Holistic Health & Wellness, Mindfulness & Meditation, Emotional Intelligence (EQ), Entrepreneurship & Business Life Coach, Goal Setting to Success, and Life Purpose Life Coach. I studied psychology at Georgia State University. I graduated from the Massage Therapy program at the International School of Skin, Nailcare & Massage Therapy in Atlanta and the Advanced Neuromuscular Massage Therapy program at the National Holistic Institute in Emeryville, CA.
I want to coach a young lady because the youth are our future. I want every child, especially black girls, to know deep in their heart (without waiver!!) that they can (and will) accomplish anything they put their mind to. I’ve found that surrounding yourself with positive, supportive people makes a world of difference.
I live in the San Francisco Bay Area with my two teen daughters. When I’m not working you can find me spending time with family and friends, relaxing in the jacuzzi, working on my self development, hiking, reading, or earthing.
What inspires me...
I left an abusive marriage, because I didn’t want my daughters to believe that that is what love is. We started over with about $20 in my pocket, a suitcase for my clothes, one for the girls’ clothes and a box of pictures. I’ve learned that I can accomplish anything with prayer, a positive mindset, hard work, and continued faith in God.
